Do you have a woolen Pendleton throw or
blanket? Keeping it clean ensures that it is comfortable and safe. Woolen
blankets are durable. They are also among the most desirable types of beddings
because they are warm, soft and they cannot be stained or damaged easily. You
can easily clean the heavily soiled blankets with a brush. You should wash your
blankets a couple of times every year. You should never use harsh chemicals
when cleaning wool blankets. This will degrade the blanket. Here are some tips
for cleaning blankets.
Brush
your wool throws and blankets
Use a soft bristle brush to brush the wool blanket.
Whether your blanket is heavily soiled or just dingy, brushing will make a huge
difference. You should spread the Pendleton blankets on the floor and
brush it down the axis to ensure that the fibers are
lying in the same direction. This will give the blanket structural strength.
Clean
off the stains from the blanket
You can use wool cleaning liquid to soak the blanket.
Don’t wait for the stains to set in because they will be impossible to remove.
You can use mild detergents and warm water to clean the stains as soon as you
notice them. Soak the area of the spill in warm water and mild detergent and
avoid scrubbing the fabric.
Use a
washer for blankets that are heavily soiled
Place heavily soiled throws and blankets in the washer
with wool-safe detergent and cold water. Allow the blanket to soak for around
15 minutes in the mixture and set your washer to cycle gently for 2 minutes.
Switch the washing machine to the rinse cycle and let the rinse cycle to
complete.
Hang
your blankets to dry
Avoid drying your woolen Pendleton throw or
blanket on direct sunlight. Hang it in a shade to dry from the warm wind.
